| STUDENTS' ORIENTATION PROGRAMME ON NEP 2020 AND FYUGP (For B.Com 1st Semester 2026-27) | The B.Com 1st Sem Orientation programme was held on 22nd August, 2026, in the Digital Classroom by the Dept. of Commerce, to orient the newly enrolled students under FYUGP-NEP 2020.
HOD, Ajay Prasad Saikia welcome the students and explained the new 4-year credit-based syllabus as per New Education Programme, Four Year Under Graduate Programme B Com with Major-Minor, AEC, SEC and VAC courses with a Power Point Presentation. The internal exam pattern was also clarified: 20-40% marks for class tests, assignments, group discussion, attendance and 60-80% for GU end-Sem exams, with 40% pass criteria in both. The session ended with a Q&A to clear doubts about subjects and college rules.
Students were told about the facilities provided by the department including the Departmental library, which consist of more than 11 hundred books.
He emphasised and informed the students that 75% attendance is mandatory in each subject for exam eligibility, with strict rules on discipline, no ragging, and no use of mobile phones in class.
Lastly students were encouraged t set goals and utilise college resources effectively.
The programme was successful in creating a positive and supportive environment for the new batch.

| STUDENTS' COUNSELLING PROGRAMME | A Counselling programme was held on 22th August, 2026, for B.COM 1st. 3rd, 5th and 7th Semester students in the Digital Classroom by the Dept. of Commerce, to support the students in their academic and personal transition.
The major objectives were:
To guide about the courses and future career options
To provide effective study technique and time management.
To address behavioural issues and discipline
To create awareness about mental health and wellbeing.
Mr Ajay Prasad Saikia ,HOD Department of Commerce addressed the students and explained the importance of maintaining a balance between academic pressure and mental wellbeing.
Mr. Rantumani Pathak advised the students to practice mindfulness, open communication, and to seek help from the faculty members when needed.

| Celebtation of "world Entrepreneurs' Day" | REPORT ON CELEBRATION OF “WORLD ENTREPRENEURS’ DAY”
Pandu College, Department of Commerce celebrated World Entrepreneurs’ Day on 21st August, 2026 with great enthusiasm. The objective of the program was to in -still entrepreneurial spirit among students and to make them aware of the opportunities and challenges in the field of business and innovation.
The program was anchored by Ms. Anuka Sengupta. As a mark of respect and gratitude, the guest was felicitated by B.com 3rd Semester students Banasree Malakar, Minakshi Devi, and Pallabi Kalita with a Fulam Gamusa and a token of love.
The event commenced with an introductory note by Mr. Arijit Bhardwaj. He highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship in today’s dynamic economy and the role of educational institutions in nurturing young entrepreneurs.
Mr. Ajay Prasad Saikia, Head of the Department of Commerce, formally introduced the guest, Mr. Biswajit Basak, and spoke about his contributions and journey as an entrepreneur.
Mr. Biswajit Basak addressed the students on insights on startup culture, problem-solving, risk management, and government initiatives for startups. The session was interactive, and students cleared their doubts regarding business planning and innovation.
The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Dhritismita Sarma.
The event ended on a positive note, leaving students inspired and informed.

| CULTURAL PROGRAMME CUM FRESHMEN SOCIAL | Pandu College, Commerce Department has organised one cultural programme for the student on 10th September 2026, from 10.00 AM. A total of 131 students attended the programme along with all 10 faculty members of the department. The programme was anchored by Banashree Malakar and Minakshi Devi from B.Com 3rd Semester. The programme began with a Ganesh Vandana sung by Rajat Chakraborty and Sawrab Paul from B.Com 3rd Semester. Followed by an introductory speech by Jipora Basumatary of 7th Sem and Dhiraj Goswami from 3rd Sem. Total 20 students have participated and performed different cultural activities including solo singing, group singing, group dance, followed by a talent hunt to bring out the talent and creativity of the newly enrolled students of HS 1st year and B.Com 1st Sem.Lastly, Jisu Bezbaruah Samiran Talukdar from HS 2nd Year and Anurag Goswami from the 1st year performed a Nagara naam. The spirit of rich Assamese culture was reflected in their performance. HOD, Ajay Prasad Saikia and senior faculty Nirmali Sarmah felicitated the Mr. and Miss Fresher i.e. Jonaki Boro and Anurag Goswami with a token of appreciation. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Birat Dutta who thanked Principal Sir, HOD, all the faculty members, volunteers and students for making the programme successful.
Cultural programme Cum Departmental freshers held on 10th September 2026, Commerce Department, Pandu College, was a grand succuss. It provided a platform for students to showcase their talents in dance, music and other creative fields. It helped to strengthen the bond between the faculty members, seniors and juniors and created an inclusive environment in the department. | WALL MAGAZINE INAUGURATION (Session 2025-26) | The Wall Magazine(Prabahika) on the topic “Green Commerce” was inaugurated with great enthusiasm by the students and faculty members of Department of Commerce on 9th May 2026.
Mr. Pranjal Patiri, Head of the Department of Political Science, graced the occasion as the invited guest. The program began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the guest, followed by the ribbon-cutting ceremony to formally unveil the wall magazine. In his address, Sir Patiri appreciated the students’ efforts and delivered an insightful note on the importance of reading literature. He emphasized how literature shapes critical thinking and environmental awareness, and praised the students for choosing such a relevant and timely theme as Green Commerce.
Banashree Malakar a student of B. Com 2nd Semester also a member of Wall Magazine Committee presented an introductory note on the topic. She highlighted the concept of Green Commerce, its significance in today’s economy, and the need for sustainable business practices to protect the environment. The wall magazine showcased creative articles, posters, and illustrations by students reflecting on eco-friendly business models, green marketing, and sustainable development.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Ajay Prasad Saikia, Head of Department, Commerce. The event was a successful initiative to encourage student expression and awareness on environmental issues in commerce.

| SEBI’s awareness programme on “SMARTs Investor Investment Programme” |
The SEBI’s awareness programme on “SMARTs Investor Investment Programme” was successfully conducted on 31st March 2026 at Department of Commerce Pandu College under the joint initiative of the IQAC and the Department of Commerce, Pandu College in collaboration with SMART's Investor Awareness Program (Securities Market Awareness through Resource Trainers – SEBI Initiative). The programme aimed to enhance financial literacy among students and promote awareness about smart and responsible investment practices in the securities and financial markets.
Mr. Abdul Aziz, the resource person from the SMART Investor Awareness Program, delivered an engaging and informative session. He highlighted the importance of early investment habits, various investment avenues such as mutual funds, equities, bonds, and government schemes, and the need for informed decision-making while avoiding common financial risks and frauds.
A total of 49 students from 2nd, 4th, 6th Semester and all the faculty members of Department of Commerce attended the programme. The session witnessed active participation from the students. Banashree Malakar from the 2nd Semester and Dilbahadur Chetri from the 4th Semester raised queries on topics such as risk management, and career opportunities in the financial sector. | Celebration of The World Consumer Right Day | The Department of Commerce of Pandu College, Ghy.12, held a Webinar on Consumer Rights Awareness on the occasion of Consumer Rights Day on 15th March, 2026, Sunday at 7 PM.
The webinar was a highly informative and engaging session aimed at raising awareness about consumer rights, protections, and redressal mechanisms under Indian law. It combined a Power Point presentations, legal insights, major case studies, and interactive student participation, making it relevant for students, and the faculty members of the department.

| Cultual Rally |
The Commerce Department of Pandu College, Guwahati, Assam, actively participated in the inter-departmental cultural rally held on February 5, 2026 as a key highlight of the Annual College Week celebrations (5th t0 9th February , 2026), organized by the Pandu College Student's Union Society (PCSUS 2025-26).
With 77 enthusiastic participants from the department, the rally focused on showcasing Wedding traditions from diverse Indian communities—including Assamese, Rabha, Bodo, Bengali, Bihari, Nepali, and South Indian through a vibrant procession featuring traditional attire, symbolic rituals, folk performances, and creative cultural displays that celebrated India's matrimonial diversity in a lively campus environment.

In this programme, Dr. Maitreyee Sharma(Associate Professor), Department of Philosophy, Pandu College,Guwahati-12, was present as resource person, who guided and motivated our students with her inspiring words regarding importance of moral values in the life of human being and how ethics can help us with mental peace. In her speech, she also added some real-life examples along with her own life experiences and believes. Total 80 number of students of the department along with 7 faculty members were present in the progremme.

| Lecture programme on "Financial Literacy" in collaboration with SEBI and CSDL | A highly successful Financial Literacy Awareness Programme was conducted on 3rd December, 2025 at Digital Classroom of Pandu College by the Security and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and Central and Depository Services (India) Ltd. (CDSL) in collaboration with Pandu College, Department of Commerce. Over 122 students (mainly from B. Com 1st, 3rd & 5th Semester) along with 8 faculty members actively participated.
