In 1962, Logic and Philosophy was included among the subjects of study when Pandu College started its instructions. In 1963, Philosophy was introduced in the Degree pass course. Subsequently, in 1970, the Department of Philosophy started its full fledged functioning with the introduction of Honours (Major) course in Philosophy.
Currently, the Department imparts a three year B.A. (Honours) course in Philosophy apart from the Regular and Generic General courses in undergraduate level, and Logic and Philosophy to Higher Secondary students. The Department has a library of its own for the use of the students of the Department.
The Department formed a society titled “Pandu College Philosophical Society” in the year 2000 to engage the students and faculty members in discourses of philosophical issues and in reflective thinking. The efforts of the Society resulted in regular discussions on diverse aspects of philosophy among the members.
